Rupture of the uterus in a primigravida. A case report.
نویسنده
چکیده
After induction with oxytocin because of premature rupture of the membranes, a caesarean section had to be performed on a primigravid patient owing to fetal distress. At laparotomy a fundal rupture of the uterus was found. Rupture of the primigravid uterus in the absence of obstetric trauma or congenital abnormality is rare, and apparently only 4 cases have been reported. The condition does not appear to have been reported in the South African literature as yet.

Uterine rupture is a potentially avoidable complication resulting in poor perinatal and maternal outcomes. This case had a number of unusual features including delivery of a healthy live baby; spontaneous posterior uterine rupture in a primigravida (and unscarred uterus); and delayed presentation with signs of peritonitis and sepsis rather than haemorrhage. A 19-year old primigravida had a vagi...
متن کاملHemoperitoneum Caused by Placenta Percreta in the Third Trimester of Pregnancy
The placental adhesive disorders such as placenta accreta and placenta percreta are the rare causes of serious obstetric hemorrhages. They are associated with high maternal morbidity and mortality.
